The short answer: Fort Lauderdale's gay resorts sit in three places. By the beach, Worthington Resorts is the big one: 96 rooms across four joined buildings, men-only, 21 and up, and clothing optional. In Victoria Park, between downtown and the beach, Pineapple Point is the quiet garden resort. In Wilton Manors, the small gay city next door, The Cabanas and a handful of tiny men-only guesthouses put you minutes from the bars on Wilton Drive. Nearly all of them are gay-owned and clothing optional, and none is all-inclusive. Pick the neighborhood first. The resort follows.

We run gay men's fitness retreats abroad, not hotels in Florida, so we have nothing to sell you here. This guide checks each property against its own website and 2025 and 2026 reporting. It covers what is open, which famous names merged, closed or changed, the gay beach, Wilton Drive, and when to go. If you are still choosing a city, our guide to the best gay resorts in the USA puts Fort Lauderdale next to Palm Springs, Key West and the rest.

How Fort Lauderdale gay resorts work

A Fort Lauderdale gay resort is a guesthouse, not a tower. Rooms face a pool, there is a hot tub, breakfast is usually included, and dinner happens somewhere else. The one thing that shapes your week more than the room is where the property sits.

The beach side. A few blocks of North Birch Road and the streets around it, a short walk back from the Atlantic. This is where Worthington Resorts is, and where Sebastian Street, the gay beach, is. Stay here for sand in the morning and a pool in the afternoon.

Victoria Park. A residential neighborhood between downtown and the beach. Quiet streets, big trees, and Pineapple Point. You will want a bike or a rideshare to get to the sand or the bars.

Wilton Manors. Its own small city of about 11,000 people, just north of Fort Lauderdale, with Wilton Drive running through it as the gay main street. Stay here if you want to walk home from the bars.

Most properties are for gay men only. Worthington Resorts spells out that you must be 21 to be on the property, and the smaller guesthouses call themselves men-only or gay men's resorts. Clothing optional is the norm, though the rule shifts by property: Pineapple Point keeps it to the pool areas, and Inn Leather sets clothing-optional hours for day guests. Put a towel down on shared seats, and keep your phone camera away from the pool.

Day passes are common. Pineapple Point sells them on most days, The Cabanas and Inn Leather offer them, and Worthington Resorts sells passes to its events. So you can sleep somewhere quiet and spend an afternoon somewhere busier.

By the beach: Worthington Resorts

Worthington Resorts (The Worthington, The Grand, Alcazar and Villa Venice)

Men only, 21 and up. Clothing optional. Social. Four gay guesthouses on North Birch Road now run as one complex. The Worthington opened in 2000, bought the Alcazar building in 2005 and the Villa Venice building in 2012, and it sits beside The Grand Resort & Spa, with garden walkways joining all four. Together they have 96 rooms, suites and penthouses, four pools, three hot tubs, a gym and a full-service day spa. The resort says it is 500 feet from the ocean and a five minute walk from the gay beach at Sebastian Street, and it calls itself the largest gay men's clothing-optional resort in the US.

This is the easy pick for a man traveling alone. With that many rooms there is always someone at the pool, and the beach is right there. The trade-off is that it feels more like a hotel than a guesthouse, so if you want the owner to know your name by day two, look elsewhere. Worthington's own site also says its accessible features are limited, which is worth knowing before you book.

If an older list tells you to book Villa Venice, Alcazar or The Grand as separate resorts, you are looking at the same complex.

Victoria Park: Pineapple Point

Pineapple Point Guesthouse & Resort

Gay men only. Clothing-optional pool areas. Quiet. Pineapple Point has run from 1999 on and covers more than two acres of tropical garden, with six buildings, a lap pool, two jacuzzis, massage studios, an on-site gym and hammocks in the shade. Continental breakfast is included, snacks are out during the day, and an evening happy hour brings out beer, wine, cheese and crackers. Bikes, towels and suntan lotion are free to use.

It sits at or near the top of almost every Fort Lauderdale gay resort list we read for this guide, and it earns that for a certain kind of trip. Book it for a couple's week, an anniversary, or a solo reset with a book. Do not book it for a party. You will be taking the bike or a rideshare to the beach and to Wilton Drive, which is fine, because the garden is the point.

Wilton Manors: close to Wilton Drive

Wilton Manors is where gay Fort Lauderdale goes out. The guesthouses here are smaller and more casual than the beach resorts, and several are close enough to Wilton Drive that you can walk.

The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa

Gay men's resort. Clothing optional. Social and relaxed. The Cabanas sits on the water on NE 26th Street, with two heated pools, one billed as the social party pool and the other as the quiet one, a jacuzzi, and loungers looking over the waterways. Its J Cohen Boutique Spa does massages and facials, continental breakfast is complimentary, and it sells day passes. Booking sites list 18 rooms. It is a short drive to Wilton Drive rather than a walk, and it is the best pick if you want Wilton Manors nights with a proper resort pool by day.

Fantasy Island Inn

Men only. Clothing optional. Tiny. Three rooms, each with a private entrance and each opening straight onto a heated saltwater pool, steps from Wilton Drive. Guests share a kitchen stocked with snacks. With three rooms, this is closer to staying at a friend's house than at a resort, and that is the appeal.

Casa806

Men only. Small. A guesthouse on NW 24th Street on the west side of Wilton Manors, a short drive from Wilton Drive, with a heated saltwater pool and a hot tub. Travel guides describe it as clothing optional with only a few rooms. Its own site does not spell out the clothing policy, so ask when you book.

Casa Citron

Mostly gay men. Clothing optional. Quiet. Technically in Oakland Park, on a residential street just north of Wilton Manors. It calls itself a clothing-optional gay guesthouse and says most of its guests are gay men, so it is not strictly men-only. It closed for the summer from July 1 to September 15, 2026, with reservations due to reopen, so confirm it is taking bookings before you plan around it.

The other two: Inn Leather and The Big Coconut

Inn Leather Guest House

Male only. Clothing optional. Cruisy. Gay-owned and serving the leather and Levi community from 1999 on. It is on SE 19th Street, less than a mile from the airport and Port Everglades, which makes it handy for a cruise departure and less handy for the beach. There is a heated pool, two sun decks and continental breakfast every morning, and day guests get set clothing-optional hours. Listings mention a sling in each room. It is the leather option in town and does not pretend otherwise. Its new owners say they bought it to make it cleaner and more accessible, so expect some renovation work.

The Big Coconut Guesthouse

Men only. Clothing optional. Relaxed. Opened by the team behind the old Coconut Cove, which closed in 2014. The Globetrotter Guys, in a guide updated in July 2026, list it with a sister property, the Little Coconut, across the street, and place it within reach of both Sebastian Street and the Wilton Manors bars. Budget-minded guides call it the affordable pick. Its own website was not loading when we checked, so book through a site you trust and confirm directly.

Merged, closed or changed

Fort Lauderdale lists go stale fast. Five names to watch for:

  • Villa Venice and Alcazar are not separate resorts any more. Both are part of Worthington Resorts, bought in 2012 and 2005.
  • The Grand Resort & Spa is part of the same four-building complex. Older guides describe it as its own 33-room resort.
  • Coconut Cove closed in the summer of 2014. The Big Coconut is its successor.
  • Calypso Inn in Wilton Manors appears to have closed. Its website no longer loads and Yelp lists it as closed, even though a few 2026 guides still recommend it.
  • The Royal Palms on Breakers Avenue was for years one of the best-known men-only resorts in town. It now welcomes men and women 21 and up, so it is no longer men-only.

Sebastian Street Beach

The gay beach is at the corner of Sebastian Street and State Road A1A, between the Ritz-Carlton and Casablanca Cafe, and about a five minute walk from Worthington Resorts. It is public and free, with parking, food vendors and umbrella rentals nearby, and it is busiest at the weekend. It is a swimsuit beach, not a nude one, whatever your resort's pool rules are. Wilton Drive and the bars

Wilton Drive is the reason to stay in Wilton Manors. The Globetrotter Guys count more than 20 gay bars in the area, and the names that come up again and again are Georgie's Alibi Monkey Bar for drag, DrYnk to start the night, Next Bar and Lounge, the Eagle for late nights, and the big clubs at The Manor and Hunters. On the Fort Lauderdale side, Ramrod has been the leather bar from 1992 on, and Boardwalk and Le Boy run late. The easy pattern for a week: beach or pool by day, dinner and drinks on Wilton Drive, and a rideshare home if you are staying by the ocean.

When to go

October through May is the season. The Globetrotter Guys call it the best time to visit, and winter is when the resorts are busiest. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon storms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, so travel insurance is worth it for a summer or early fall trip.

Wicked Manors is Saturday, October 31, 2026. Wilton Drive closes to traffic for South Florida's biggest gay Halloween street party, with costumes, drag and a main stage in the evening. It is ticketed, the money goes to The Pride Center at Equality Park, and the night carries on at The Manor and Hunters after the street closes. If you want a resort that weekend, book now.

Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride is every June. The 2026 street festival was on June 20, with a parade down Wilton Drive after dark.

Pride Fort Lauderdale is between dates. Its old board voted to dissolve in February 2025 and handed the event to Hotspots Happening Out, the group that runs Stonewall Pride. Its website says the next Pride Fort Lauderdale is coming in early 2027, with no dates announced yet.

Getting there

Fly into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL). It is close to everything in this guide: Inn Leather is less than a mile from the terminal, and Fantasy Island Inn in Wilton Manors puts itself about eight miles away. Miami International works if your fares or flights are better there, but plan on 45 to 60 minutes by road.

You do not need a car if you pick your neighborhood well. Beach resorts are a walk from the sand, Wilton Manors guesthouses are a walk or a short ride from the bars, and rideshare covers the rest. Rent a car if you are staying in Victoria Park or near the airport and plan to go out every night.

How to pick

  • Going alone and want to meet people: Worthington Resorts. Our guide to traveling solo as a single gay man covers the rest.
  • A couple who wants quiet: Pineapple Point.
  • Nights on Wilton Drive: The Cabanas, or Fantasy Island Inn if you want to walk.
  • The leather crowd: Inn Leather.
  • Traveling with women friends: skip the men-only guesthouses and book a gay friendly hotel on the beach.
  • Comparing with the desert: our guide to Palm Springs gay resorts covers the other big men-only resort town.

Three questions to send before you pay: is it men-only, where exactly is clothing optional, and what is the minimum age? A small guesthouse answers all three in one email.

A resort week, or a week abroad with a group

A Fort Lauderdale resort trip is a sun-and-pool week. You lie by the water, walk to the beach or the bars, and who else is staying is down to luck. For a couple or a group of friends, that is a good trip.

A Visiting Wrld retreat is a different trip, and it is fairer to say so than to pretend it competes. It is a coached week abroad for gay and queer men, in Costa Rica, Mexico, Bali or Thailand. We stay in a villa, train at the gym with a coach most mornings, spend the afternoons in the destination, and take a day on a private yacht with snorkeling. Most of our guys arrive on their own, so nobody spends the first day working out who to talk to.

If you are weighing the two, our comparison of gay resorts vs gay retreats lays out the difference, and gay fitness retreats has the destinations and dates.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best gay resort in Fort Lauderdale?

It depends on the week you want. For a social week a walk from the beach, Worthington Resorts. For a quiet couple's stay in a garden, Pineapple Point in Victoria Park. For nights on Wilton Drive, The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa in Wilton Manors. All three are gay men's resorts and all three are clothing optional, at least at the pool.

Are Fort Lauderdale gay resorts clothing optional?

Most of them are. Worthington Resorts, The Cabanas, Fantasy Island Inn, Inn Leather and The Big Coconut are clothing optional, and Pineapple Point keeps it to its pool areas. Nobody makes you take anything off, and plenty of guests stay in swimwear. Ask each resort exactly where the rule applies before you book.

Should I stay on Fort Lauderdale beach or in Wilton Manors?

Stay by the beach if you want to walk to the sand at Sebastian Street, and in Wilton Manors if you want to walk home from the bars on Wilton Drive. You cannot walk between the two. Worthington Resorts puts Wilton Drive about 15 minutes away by car, and Victoria Park, home of Pineapple Point, sits in between.

Where is the gay beach in Fort Lauderdale?

Sebastian Street Beach, at the corner of Sebastian Street and State Road A1A, between the Ritz-Carlton and Casablanca Cafe. It is about a five minute walk from Worthington Resorts. It is a public swimsuit beach, not a nude beach, with parking, food vendors and umbrella rentals nearby.

Which Fort Lauderdale gay resorts have closed or changed?

Villa Venice, Alcazar and The Grand are no longer separate resorts: they are part of Worthington Resorts. Coconut Cove closed in 2014. Calypso Inn in Wilton Manors appears to have closed: its website no longer loads and Yelp lists it as closed. The Royal Palms now welcomes men and women 21 and up, so it is no longer men-only.

When is Wicked Manors 2026?

Saturday, October 31, 2026, in the evening on Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors. It is South Florida's biggest gay Halloween street party, it is ticketed, and it benefits The Pride Center at Equality Park. Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride is every June, and Pride Fort Lauderdale says its next event is coming in early 2027.
