The short answer: A lesbian cruise is a sailing where the whole ship, or a hosted group on board, is lesbian and queer women. Olivia is the long-running name here, and its biggest announced sailing is the XOXO Caribbean Cruise on Holland America's Eurodam, February 13 to 20, 2027, with around 2,100 women on board. Smaller companies take hosted groups onto regular sailings instead, and at least one LGBTQ+ charter builds a space for women inside a mixed crowd. Which one you want mostly comes down to how big a group you want to be part of.
This guide covers who runs lesbian cruises right now, the sailings actually on the calendar for late 2026 and 2027, what a charter week looks like, how cruising alone works, and how to pick a cabin. Every sailing below was checked against the operator's own website in September 2026. Trips sell out and schedules move, so confirm the dates with the operator before you pay anything.
The three kinds of lesbian cruise
Search "lesbian cruises" and three different products come back under one phrase. They are very different weeks once you are on board.
1. The full takeover
The operator books the entire ship or riverboat, and every guest is on the trip. The shows, the parties, the dining and the daytime schedule are all built for the group. On a big ocean ship that can be about 2,100 women. On a riverboat it can be fewer than 200.
2. A hosted group on a regular sailing
A smaller company books a block of cabins on a normal cruise and runs its own meetups, dinners and excursions. The rest of the passengers are the general public. You trade a ship built around you for a group small enough to learn everyone's name.
3. An LGBTQ+ charter with space for women
Mixed charters book the whole ship for the entire LGBTQ+ community. Women are welcome and some operators run dedicated programming for them, but the crowd is mixed and the party calendar is aimed at everyone.

Who runs lesbian cruises
Olivia
The Olivia name goes back to 1973, when it began as a women's music label. It sailed its first all-women cruise in 1990, and the company says it has taken more than 350,000 lesbian and LGBTQ+ women on trips over the past 35 years. Today it runs ocean cruises, riverboat cruises, all-inclusive resort weeks and adventure trips.
Olivia is clear about who the trips are for. Most guests identify as lesbians and queer women, trans and nonbinary guests are welcome, and you have to be at least 21. On its larger trips it runs separate programming for solo travelers, for Olivians of Color, for trans and nonbinary guests and for people new to Olivia.
If you searched "olivia lesbian travel," it helps to know that a resort trip and a cruise are different weeks. A resort week keeps you at one all-inclusive hotel, and Olivia's current resort trips are in Mexico. A cruise moves every day, which means port mornings, excursions and a lot less lying still.
VACAYA
VACAYA runs full-ship and full-resort charters for the whole LGBTQ+ community, not for women alone. Its 2027 Caribbean Cruise sails Celebrity Beyond round trip from Fort Lauderdale on February 14 to 21, 2027, calling at Puerto Plata, San Juan and Philipsburg on St. Maarten. That is one day after Olivia's Caribbean cruise leaves the same port, which says a lot about February in Fort Lauderdale.
On board, VACAYA runs the Transcend Lounge, a daily social space for guests who identify as women, trans, nonbinary, asexual, intersex or pansexual, and their friends. It suits you if you want to travel with gay male friends and still have a place to find other women. It is not a women's cruise, and anyone selling it to you as one is overselling.
Lesbians Aboard
Lesbians Aboard hosts group cruises for lesbians and queer women on Virgin Voyages ships. Its calendar lists a Halloween sailing from Los Angeles on October 24 to 29, 2026 and an eight-night Winter Warm Up from Miami on December 5 to 13, 2026. The 2027 dates include a Valentine's singles sailing from Miami on February 11 to 15, a ten-night Summer Glow Up from Athens on June 10 to 20, and an Alaska sailing from Seattle on August 24 to September 2.
Diva Destinations
Diva Destinations is a company registered in England that personally hosts lesbian travel groups, and it says more than 80 percent of its women travel solo. It does not charter ships. For 2027 it is taking small groups aboard Norwegian Cruise Line: Norwegian Jade to Alaska on June 21 to 28, and Norwegian Gem around the Mediterranean on July 11 to 18.
R Family Vacations
R Family Vacations, whose site now runs under the KelliGregg Travel name, hosts LGBTQ+ family sailings where everyone is welcome, men and straight relatives included, with programming for kids. A good week for a queer family with children. It is not a lesbian cruise.

Yes, the Greek Isles cruise stops at Lesbos, the island the word comes from. If you only ever do one of these, that is a hard itinerary to argue with.
Olivia's calendar also lists river cruises on the Danube (April 5 to 12, 2027), from Amsterdam to Switzerland (April 13 to 20, 2027), on Portugal's Douro (May 12 to 19, 2027) and in France (June 29 to July 6, 2027), plus a Japan cruise (March 31 to April 10, 2027), a Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore cruise (December 6 to 17, 2026), and adventure cruises in the Galápagos and New Zealand. We did not confirm the ships for those, so check the vessel before you book.
What a charter week is actually like
Olivia's published program for the February 2027 Caribbean cruise is detailed enough to give a fair picture of a big takeover week.
Day one is boarding, finding your cabin and, if you came alone, the Solos Welcome, where you meet the Solos Coordinator. After that the ship settles into a rhythm. Days go to ports or sea days, with workshops on love and wellness and poetry sessions for anyone who wants them. Evenings go to concerts, comedy nights, theme nights and pool parties. The 2027 lineup lists musicians Cris Williamson and Ruthie Foster, comedians Judy Gold and Kristin Key, DJs and karaoke, and because it sails over Valentine's Day there is a prom.
The fare covers your cabin for seven nights, all meals including room service, and Olivia's entertainment. Port taxes and gratuities are billed separately as what Olivia calls non-discountable amounts, so budget for them on top of the headline price.
What the brochure cannot really describe is the default. On a takeover, nobody at the next table is surprised that you are holding your partner's hand, and nobody on the pool deck needs anything explained. For a lot of women that is the whole reason to go.
Ship size changes the week more than the route does. With 2,100 women on the Eurodam you will meet new people every night and still see strangers on the last day. With 312 on the Star Legend you will recognize most faces by Wednesday. A riverboat of under 200 feels closer to a floating small hotel.
Going on a lesbian cruise on your own
One of the top search results for this topic is a Reddit thread asking whether anyone has gone on a lesbian cruise alone. People clearly want to know, so here is the plain answer: yes, and the operators build for it.
Olivia's Solos program gives you Solos Coordinators, a Solos necklace so other solo travelers can spot you, a Solos schedule with dances, mixers and sunset cruises, and Solos seating at meals and at the nightly shows. On select trips its Room Share program matches you with a cabinmate so you are not paying for a cabin alone. Room Share cannot be booked online, so you have to call.
At the smaller end, Diva Destinations says more than 80 percent of its women travel solo. On a hosted group of that shape, coming alone is the normal case.
What actually makes a solo week work:
- Go to the solo welcome on day one. The people you meet in the first 24 hours are the ones you end up eating with all week.
- Use the designated solo dining. Sitting down with strangers is much easier when the table exists for exactly that.
- Pick the ship size that suits your energy. Big ships give you endless options. Small ships make it hard to stay anonymous, which is either the point or a problem.
- Ask about room share before you pay a single supplement. Most cruise pricing assumes two people in a cabin.

Most of the choice comes down to five questions.
- Women only or mixed? Olivia, Lesbians Aboard and Diva are built for women. VACAYA and R Family are built for the wider community.
- How many people? The sailings above run from a 166-guest riverboat to a 2,100-woman ocean ship. Decide which end you want before you look at routes.
- Ocean or river? River cruises dock in the middle of towns and the water is flat, so seasickness rarely comes up. Ocean cruises give you sea days, bigger shows and more of a party.

- Who else is going? Ask the operator about the age mix and how many guests come as couples versus on their own. The answer tells you more than the photos.
Choosing a cabin
On a takeover you will spend most of your waking hours in the public spaces, so plenty of women book the cheapest cabin and never think about it again. A few things are still worth weighing.
- Inside cabins are the least expensive and have no window. Fine if you only sleep there, rough if you like to wake up to daylight.
- Ocean view and balcony cabins pay off on scenic routes. On the Norwegian fjords or in Alaska, a balcony is half the trip.
- If you get seasick, ask for a cabin in the middle of the ship on a lower deck, where the motion is gentlest.
- If you use a wheelchair, Olivia books accessible rooms through its travel consultants rather than online, and asks guests to bring a small collapsible chair.
- Book early on a charter. A chartered ship cannot add cabins, so the categories people want go first.
First-time lesbian cruise tips
A few things catch first-timers out, and none of them are about the parties.
- Read the deposit terms before you book. Olivia takes a nonrefundable deposit of 25 percent of the trip cost at booking. Know that number before you commit, because it is money you do not get back.
- Buy travel insurance early. Olivia recommends buying it within 15 days of your first payment.
- Check your passport now. Olivia requires a passport valid for at least six months beyond the end of your trip. Find that out at booking, not the week before you fly. Our LGBTQ+ travel packing list covers documents, medication and what people forget.
- Fly in the day before. A ship will not wait for a delayed flight. Olivia sells pre-cruise hotel packages on some trips, including one-night and three-night Barcelona packages before the 2027 Spain and Portugal sailing.
- Pack for the theme nights. Read the program before you pack, so you are not the one person at the prom in shorts.
A lesbian cruise or a small-group retreat?
A cruise and a retreat solve different problems, and plenty of women would enjoy both.
